Check out some of our inventions to help Puerto Rico!
My invention isa water cleaner. It cleans water on one side and stores clean water on the other side.If it gets too full, it will start spraying. There is a button to store or clean the water.I decided to make this because hurricanes, floods, and fire usually take out the water supply.People need clean water to survive! Juan Alvarado, 3rd Grade
My invention is a water cleaner. It works by sucking up dirty water from rain or dirty rivers and oceans. It has a cleaning source inside to clean the water. The red pipe is another layer of protection because it has another cleaning source. The red pipe then dumps out clean water for people to drink or cook with. I got this idea because it seemed the biggest issue for people after Hurricane Maria was that they did not have clean water. Also, I learned about how Flint, Michigan had dirty water so I wanted to do something that would help people have clean water.
Jesus Sanchez, 3rd Grade
My invention is a bunker to protect you from hurricanes, tornadoes, mudslides, and floods. It’s made out of hard clay and has a tube that sucks in water from a food and puts the water in a tank. The tube cleans the water so that people can use it or drink it.It has an antenna to send a signal if you need help.I thought of this because the Puerto Ricans didn’t have a safe place to go.I think more people should have their own bunker.
Nathan Albarracin, 3rd Grade
My invention is a hospital. It helps people when they’re hurt or sick. The hospital is underground so that it is protected from hurricanes and other disasters. I made it underground because in Puerto Rico, most hospitals were destroyed by the hurricane.People who needed help or medicine couldn’t get what they needed. I think people should have a safe place to get better.
Isabel Gutierrez, 3rd Grade
I made a house with solar panels. When a hurricane makes everything really wet, people lose power. With this house, they can still have power because the energy comes from the sun.I made this because Puerto Ricans had no power, even many months after the hurricane. If they had homes that could make their own power, the people would be better off.
Kaelyn Matulac, 3rd Grade
My idea is to place sandbags by the ocean so that when a hurricane comes they can stop the flooding. The bags are made out of metal, so the water will slip off and back into the ocean.I decided to make an entrance so that people could go pick up any trash on the surface of the ocean.I wanted to make this because hurricanes are happening more and sea levels are rising.
Bailey Cervantez, 3rd Grade
I built a double brick house. When a hurricane comes, it protects the people inside because it has 2 layers of protection. If the first layer falls, people are still safe.I wanted to make a strong house because I felt bad for the Puerto Ricans.I thought it would helpful if that had homes hat wouldn’t get easily destroyed. Valerie Chavez, 3rd Grade
My creation is a bunker on top of a house.I made this because I wanted people to have somewhere that is safe but also very close to their house. The bunker is made out of steel and has bricks on the inside so that it won’t blow away.
Tony Andrade, 3rd Grade
My invention is similar to a solar panel. When the sun hits the hole, it collects energy to make electricity. There is also a way to get clean water, because Puerto Rico does not have clean water.
Jayce Barnes, 3rd Grade
I created something that helps people rebuild communities. This machine catches wind and sucks it up so that there is less wind affecting people during the hurricane. It stores the wind and people can use it later as wind power. There is a button you can push so that the wind will stay inside. I made this because you never know when a hurricane might hit, and it’s a good machine to keep handy.
Kevin Council-Lagos, 3rd Grade
I made a land and water escape ship. There is a control panel that turns on.It uses solar energy. It helps you escape natural disasters like hurricanes, tornados, droughts, and fires. It can float on water and hover on and so it doesn't bump into any debris.I decided to make this so that people can escape hard situations instead of staying and not surviving.
Steele Herrera, 3rd Grade
I made a tank.It floats on water like a hover board. It collects water and stores it in a tank.It has tubes that can disconnect and scan water bottles. If it recognizes a water bottle, the machine will fill the bottle with clean water.I wanted to make this because after the hurricane in Puerto Rico, I saw that people didn't have enough clean water.People need water to survive, so I thought it was important to take care of that for them.
Jason Guandique, 3rd Grade
I created the Water Cleaner 9000.First you put water in the small tube. The water travels to another tube and gets cleaned. Then, the water goes down the long black tube. You can have the water collect into a bottle or large tank.It also stores water.I made this because after Hurricane Maria, people really needed water. They started drinking from rivers, but that water wasn’t clean. They can use my invention to clean and store water.
Hugo Perez, 3rd Grade
My project is a house with solar panels. They take energy from the sun and moon, and they can store energy.I wanted to use solar panels so that we don’t keep taking energy from the earth. In a hurricane or disaster, you don’t need to have electricity. If you power goes out, you still have the solar panels. The panels are also water proof so they won’t get destroyed.
Valentina Molina, 3rd Grade
My invention is a robot. On the back, there is an area where you can change the pipes if they get too dirty. It comes with a lot of clean pipes so you don’t need to look for them. The clean pipes can clean water so that you have clean water to drink.I wanted a water cleaner because I know people need water to live and if they drink dirty water they might get sick. After a disaster, they probably don’t have enough money to pay for medicine or go to a hospital
Samantha Magana, 3rd Grade
My invention is a bunker. If there is a lot of water, it slides off the bunker because the bunker has a slanted roof. The tubes collect water from rain so that people in the bunker have some water. There are pipes inside to clean the water so it is safe to drink.I designed a bunker so that people can be safe in hurricanes.
Oscar Turcios, 3rd Grade
I made a a helicopter that drops robots in areas that are hit by hurricanes or disasters. The robots spread out and give food to people who need it.The robots also help rebuild houses that have been destroyed.I made this because after Hurricane Maria, a lot of people were living on the streets and it was taking a long time to get money to rebuild. This would help them get their homes back faster and have something to eat.
Andrew Torres, 3rd Grade
My invention is a group of robots. Both of them get trash and pile it up.One of them, Baymax, can turn into a mattress and if you lay down on him or hug him, he can be a heater also.I decided to make these so that BB8 can clean up trash and Baymax and help people survive. In Puerto Rico, life was really hard after the hurricane because there was a lot of trash and destruction and a lot of people didn’t have places to sleep.
Catherine Solis, 3rd Grade
I built a water holder. It gets water form the rain. There’s a tube that holds the water and detects if it’s clean or not.If it’s not clean, it goes into another section that cleans it.If it is clean, it goes into a tank.Clean water comes out of the tube so people can fill their water bottles. This machine runs on solar power.I made this because there are a lot of places in the world that do not have clean water and water is really important to survive.
Jaeden Hernandez, 3rd Grade
My project is astrong house. When it rains, there are things on the windows to protect the windows from the rain.It has really strong doors so that flood water doesn’t get it.It is built out of strong material so it doesn’t crack.I made this so that people could be safe and survive a disaster.
Diego Verduzco, 3rd Grade
I created a house that can last through a hurricane or a flood. If there is a flood, the house won’t get flooded because the walls are very high.I wanted to make this so that people can keep their homes and don’t have to take a lot of time to build a new house if something happens.
Stephanie Gonzales, 3rd Grade
I invented a house that is made out of steel and metal. When strong storms come, the house will last through them.I made a house because a lot of people lose their homes in disasters and I think people should have a safe place to live.
Arleth Calderon, 3rd Grade
My project is a water cleaner. It has pipes long enough so that Los Angeles can send water to Puerto Rico.If our water gets dirty, the pipes automatically clean the water.I decided to make water cleaner because Puerto Rico doesn’t have clean water after the hurricane.Water is really important!
Lynn Marquez, 3rd Grade
My project is a water cleaner. It sucks water from the ground or from the river and keeps the dirt separated in one of the tubes.Another tube opens and it cleans the water and people can drink.I wanted to make a water cleaner because Puerto Ricans don’t have water and I learned some people were drinking dirty water out of the river.I wanted to make something that people could use to have clean water.
